Having heard about this little cafe from one of my FTMS fans, I thought it’s time I gave it a whirl. Although I didn’t expect to see much at first, I’ve gotta say it was quite charming. It’s one of those cafes the locals love.

The coffee was not only a highlight of this trip, but the food here was also an absolute ripper! I regrettably had a delightful chicken sandwich and managed to stole half of my friend’s most delicious spicy smoked beans, served with a sour dough and plenty of cream cheese on side. These beans have haunted me every night and I’m actually craving for one right now!

While loving the food here, I also got to kick back, relax and enjoy an incredible soy latte which was milky smooth, bitter-soft and still quite rich in flavour. Definitely a winner for me! Make sure you check them out. They’re at 45 Kedron Brook Road, corner of York Street in Wilston, open 7 days a week from 7am - 2pm. Enjoy your weekend.

Since I started adventuring Brisbane’s coffee shops, I’ve seen cafes with books, boutique furnitures and art exhibitions, but not for a second that I thought I’d see a Turkish cafe with a boutique gift shop hidden in a very traditional hardware store!

The cafe itself is quite tiny with a nice seating area out in a porch where I got to enjoy a stunning view all of greens and creek, sipping my debut Turkish coffee served in a very cute English tea set.

Although I thought for a second that the coffee was quite unpleasant, I ended up enjoying it as much as I enjoy my latte! It was very rich in taste and aroma, full of strong traditional (or ancient) flavour. It was sort of like a double shot espresso but Turkish.

Before I left, I had a quick chat with the owner of this hardware store, Newmarket Hardware. He told me that it was about time we had a manly place where husbands not feeling so guilty bring their wives to, so his lovely wife decided to open up this Turkish cafe, Gallery B. What a great idea!

My coffee venture headed north once again, but this time the cafe was tucked away in an industrial street of Kelvin Grove - Bishop Street that was. The vibe seemed average when we first walked in, but it all changed when my cappuccino was served in a baked clay cup with a weird looking science spoon. So off I went experimenting my coffee! My coffee buddy was amazed with the presentation of a playful Latte also in a baked clay cup.

This so-called ‘Coffee Laboratory’ really knows how to make the froth so frothy, I call them The Master of Frothing. It was so thick, light, bubbly and very delicious - worked well on both Latte and Cappuccino. The coffee was blended perfectly at a warm temperature, and it was silky smooth with a strong sense of bitterness - just the way I like it.

They serve 3 blends at the house using Merlo beans : House Blend, Indian Monsoon and Columbium. Although I’m not a big fan of Merlo, I actually found these blends amazing!

The cafe also exhibits a few ancient coffee-roasting and coffee-making machines which was incredible to see because you don’t see them so often in other cafes. This little joint is located at 29 Bishop Street in Kelvin Grove. I highly recommend. Good times!

What a great use of space siding a street, a park and a gift shop of its own, simply place a nice bench with some pillows and a few coffee tables, and voila, a cute coffee joint by the name of Park Bench Espresso, was born!

I’ve been here a few times now, not only because they make sensational coffee - silky smooth and served warm, but I also get to enjoy a cozy atmosphere with a pleasant view of a suburb, a park and a brief view of Brisbane’s skyscrapers. What a perfect situation for chilling out! They only open from Tuesday to Saturday 7am - 2pm at 133 Oxford Street in Bulimba. A great place like this will definitely worth a return!

Just something a little exciting to spice up my coffee experience. My journey this time led me to the heart of Brisbane CBD, Queen Street Mall that was, in a famous Irish Bar by the name of Pig n’ Whistle! So I thought what the heck it’s an Irish bar, let’s just give Irish Cocktail Coffee a crack. For a first timer, I thought it was beautifully served and well-presented. Although it was served hot and silky smooth like a skinny Latte, the taste was quite unpleasant and not at all blended well. Because my friends and I were sitting outside and it was a cold night, this whisky coffee got cold after while - and the funny thing was that it actually tasted so much better as an iced drink! Unless if you can prove me wrong, I think it tastes better when iced. Yum!
